“The wolf offers some of the most striking animal characteristics. The power of the wolf brings forth instinct, intelligence, appetite for freedom and awareness of the importance of social connections.”
All of these characteristics align with the vision, the team and the brand behind Iron Wolf
Spirit of the Team
“The Power of the Wolf is the Pack, the power of the pack is the Wolf.”
Our founding pack is diverse but as the adage above proclaims, it brings us strength!
The founding of our craft distillery was conceived in 2013 by long time industry veteran Lester Singleton, and put into motion early 2014 by the additional founding team members Jordan Watters, Glenda Watters and Randy Aylieff. The brand quickly evolved into “Iron Wolf” as the spirit and character of the wolf captured the unique nature of the team, our love of Texas and our intent, culminating in our tag line… “Bold Spirits, Texas Attitude”.
With a love of friends and family, social connections, pride of ownership and a keen interest in the making of unique spirits, we embarked on the journey. Our vision was to create a unique brand – with products that are bold, social and as diverse as the pack. We spent a good deal of time on the brand design as well as our unique custom bottles and labels. We wanted a look and feel to be proud of, a truly unique bottle that feels good in the hand and looks great on the shelf as well as marketing material that is contemporary and edgy. We are having great fun with it all!
We wanted not only to create great spirits and a powerful brand, but also a destination where we all can come together for great experiences and making memories… and that required a compelling location and top notch facilities. We also wanted to leverage the beauty and history of the Texas hill country that we love so much. We decided that the only way to fulfill our unique vision was to start from the “ground up”. We found the perfect property in our own rural home town of Spicewood Texas. For four years we have been designing, improving, developing and building the dream for an “Alpha class” craft distillery – all with our own hands. Our fabulous 15 acre property is dotted with huge oaks and elevated 360 degree views of the hill country. Now, with our first building the “Still House” complete (first of several planned) and the initial site infrastructure in place, we begin operations.
Please come visit us, watch Iron Wolf and our community grow and you can even be part of it all by helping with bottling parties and special events on occasion. We look forward to sharing our fine hand crafted spirits, our experiences and activities with you and your pack! Like our label says… “Edgy and bold, wild and free, we bring you the best tastes of Texas, with just the right amount of attitude!”
Showing “Texas Attitude!”… Texas Declaration of Independence, March 2, 1836
As seen from the transcription below, the document parallels somewhat that of the United States initial colonies, signed almost sixty years earlier. It contains statements on the function and responsibility of government, followed by a list of grievances. Finally, it concludes by declaring Texas a free and independent republic – the only such state ever to do so!
“We, therefore, the delegates with plenary powers of the people of Texas, in solemn convention assembled, appealing to a candid world for the necessities of our condition, do hereby resolve and declare, that our political connection with the Mexican nation has forever ended, and that the people of Texas do now constitute a free, Sovereign, and independent republic, and are fully invested with all the rights and attributes which properly belong to independent nations; and, conscious of the rectitude of our intentions, we fearlessly and confidently commit the issue to the decision of the Supreme arbiter of the destinies of nations.”
